What Should We Apply to Our Face at Night
If you have you ever wondered what the perfect night-time skin care routine is, then read on for our advice on this. At Nakin we develop amazing natural anti-ageing skincare as we believe in a holistic approach to keep skin looking as good as it can. These days there are so many product options for the face and lots of confusion out there about what we should apply to our skin at night. Because it is so hard to know the right products to use in the evening, we have compiled a super easy three step night-time routine, to help your skin look and feel great.
At Nakin we actually have a different philosophy to many brands when it comes to our night time skincare routine. This is because we do not believe in separate face products and night creams. The view that we should use a rich heavy cream on our face and neck at night is in our opinion dated. This is because a rich heavy cream will not benefit anyone's skin as it will simply be too much to let it function effectively, and will not absorb well enough into the lower skin cells. We do have one product that we recommend using at night instead of the day time and this is our Exfoliating Radiance Tonic.
Products to Use for Your Night-Time Face Routine
- Cleansing
As with every skin care routine in the night and day, it is important to start off with cleansing as the first step. Good cleansing at night really benefits your skin as it takes away all the grime from the day such as pollution, dried sweat, oil and make up. Taking off all of this dirt helps to rejuvenate by clearing the skin and pores, and this means that skin can breathe, and also better utilise the anti-ageing treatments applied to skin after cleansing. There is lots of different types of cleansers and we recommend an oil-based cleansing milk to easily clear away everything without being aggressive. Foam cleansers are fine as long as they are really kind and gentle to skin, and for this reason we always recommend a natural hydrating one. Harsh cleansers can really strip even the oiliest of skin and are best avoided. Follow the cleansing milk/ face wash with a liquid exfoliator and natural face toner to remove dead skin cells, tone and detoxify the face and neck. Nakin have a full range of natural anti-ageing face cleansers that are specially designed to beautifully cleanse without being harsh to skin.
- Anti-Ageing Treatments
Always apply anti-ageing treatments at night if you want to keep skin looking fresh and youthful. The most known anti-ageing treatment is a retinol cream, however, as it is often irritating to skin, we instead recommend natural skincare made with potent plant actives. At Nakin we developed our face treatments to be powerful formulas that are still kind to skin. Instead of retinol our face serum contains a plant peptide, as well as a whole host of other skin improving extracts. We also have a beautiful calming and enhancing face oil. Find out more about our natural anti-ageing face treatments online, they are kind to even sensitive skin. This includes our eye cream complex as we always recommend using an eye cream to keep this area looking as good as possible. The thinner skin around the eyes needs a different type of product to the rest of the face and neck.
- Moisturising
The last step is to apply moisturiser, which particularly benefits drier skin types. In the daytime moisturisers hydrate skin and also protect the face and neck from external stressors. During the night they also hydrate and protect skin with antioxidants, plus keep all the goodness in. At Nakin we have our award-winning natural anti-ageing moisturisers. The collection includes a hydrating lip balm, which is really lovely to use at night, as lips can get really dry when we are asleep.
How Cleansing, Treatments & Moisturisers Benefit our Skin at Night
As we sleep, our skin enters a crucial phase of repair and regeneration, making night-time the perfect opportunity to support these processes with a carefully curated skincare routine. Cleansing is the first vital step, removing dirt, oil, and makeup accumulated throughout the day. This ensures that pores are unclogged and prepared to absorb the products that follow. It is also the best time to exfoliate. Night treatments, such as serums containing active ingredients like peptides and hyaluronic acid, penetrate deeply to target specific concerns such as wrinkles and dehydration. Lastly, moisturisers serve to lock in hydration and enhance the skin's natural barrier, ensuring essential moisture is retained overnight. By adhering to a night-time skincare regimen, we can maximise the skin's natural healing cycle, resulting in a more radiant and youthful complexion.
In addition to cleansers, serums, and moisturisers, incorporating other products into our nightly routine can also provide benefits for the skin. This includes facial oils, which can provide deep nourishment and hydration for dry, mature and sensitive skin types, and amazing for specific concerns like dullness.
It's also important to remember that a consistent night-time skincare routine is just one part of maintaining healthy skin. Other factors such as diet, exercise, and stress management all play a role in the overall health and appearance of our skin. By taking care of ourselves both inside and out, we can achieve optimal results for our complexion.
Another factor to consider when creating a night-time skincare routine is to choose products that are kind to skin, like our Nakin range. This includes using gentle, minimal fragrance products and kind for anti-ageing ingredients.
Establishing a consistent night-time skincare routine is beneficial for maintaining healthy, radiant skin. By incorporating essential steps such as cleansing, serums, and moisturisers, along with other targeted treatments and considering individual skin needs, we can achieve optimal results for our complexion. Along with this external care, it's important to also prioritise self-care practices and get a good nights sleep.
We hope that you found our feature helpful about what we should apply to our face at night. A night-time routine is very similar to what we should use in the daytime, with more focus on anti-ageing and including some extra products that we might not have time to use in the day, such as a face oil. It is also good to take more care over our skincare routine at night, as we usually have more time. A leisurely nightly face routine is also a great way to have some ‘me time’ and relax from the day.
