Can I Use a Body Lotion on My Face?
The ingredients found on body lotions can be the same as those found in a face cream lotion, and so many people wonder if it is ok to use a body lotion on the face. At Nakin this is not something that we recommend, as although the two have some similarities a body lotion will often contain more fatty ingredients such as coconut oil, that can clog the pores on the face, and they will also usually be missing the high performing skin enhancing ingredients such as those found in our Nakin Face Moisturisers. So, we always recommend not using a body lotion on your face and instead using a specialised face product like those in our natural anti-ageing skincare range.
It's common practice for some people to use body lotion on their face when they don't have a specific face moisturiser at hand. While using body lotion on the face is a cheap and quick solution, it can have detrimental effects in the long run. In this blog post, we'll explore why you shouldn't use body lotion on your face and what alternatives you can use instead.
The skin on our face is much more sensitive than the skin on the rest of our body. Body lotions usually contain a high concentration of fragrances, alcohols, and oils that are too harsh for the face. For instance, the high amounts of synthetic fragrance that are commonly found in body lotions can cause skin irritation on the face. Using a rich body lotion on your face can also clog your pores and lead to breakouts.
Body lotions are typically formulated to moisturise the thicker skin on our arms, legs, and back. These lotions usually contain thicker and heavier ingredients than what our delicate facial skin needs. Using body lotion on your face can leave your skin feeling greasy, create an uneven skin texture, and provoke acne.
Another significant factor that makes body lotion unsuitable for the face is its pH level. The pH level of body lotion is typically higher since our skin on the body is less acidic. In contrast, our facial skin is more acidic, and using body lotion can alter its pH level, leading to skin dryness, inflammation, and dullness.
It's much better to use a facial moisturiser that is specifically formulated for the face. Facial moisturisers are designed to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkle skin and help to balance the oil levels of skin. They contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin that provide lightweight hydration and plumping to the skin.
Using a body lotion on the face can cause more harm than good in the long run. It's best to invest in a quality facial moisturiser like ours that is specifically designed for your facial skin. There are various moisturisers in the market that can hydrate, nourish and protect your facial skin from outside aggressors without damaging it. Whether your skin is oily, dry, or combination, it's essential to choose a moisturiser that works well with your skin type and Nakin have all of this covered in our award-winning range. Remember that your facial skin is unique, and it deserves to receive the best possible care you can provide. Find out more about our natural anti-ageing face products online.

Hi Nadirsha,
Thank you for getting in touch and for your comment about the lotion that you use. At Nakin we have very different formulas to Cetaphil, as we are a natural range and so we avoid synthetic ingredients where we can.
We have everything needed in a good face care range and you can see the collection here https://www.nakinskincare.com/collections/natural-anti-ageing-skincare
I hope that this helps in your product search and please let us know if we can help further.
Kind regards,
