Why Plant Oils Are So Great in Moisturisers

Why Plant Oils Are So Great in Moisturisers

Plant oils are an ideal ingredient in moisturisers because they contain a variety of fatty acids and antioxidants that help to nourish and protect the skin. This is why we use them so much in our Nakin Natural Anti-Ageing Skincare. We use them in most of our products due to their amazing skin conditioning properties, and these include our face moisturisers collection. This is because good botanical oils can enrich and enhance the performance of a face moisturiser in many ways.

The fatty acids in plant oils, such as linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid, have excellent hydrating properties. They also act as a barrier to prevent water loss from the skin. In addition to containing beneficial fatty acids, plant oils are rich in antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation and defend against environmental damage. Studies have shown that some plant oils can even reduce signs of ageing like wrinkles or fine lines. Many plant oils also contain vitamins like A, C and E which provide additional nourishment for the skin. These vitamins can help keep skin looking youthful and glowing.

Our face creams are multipurpose and so hydrate, revive and protect with ingredients like jojoba oil, argan oil and baobab to give skin everything it needs from a face cream. There is our Natural Anti-Ageing Matt Moisturiser which is more for oilier skin types but also normal and combination, and the Natural Anti-Ageing Dew Cream for drier skin types. One thing that is amazing about plant oil moisturisers is that because they utilise so much of mother nature it means that they work well for most sensitive skins.

Using a moisturiser like ours that contains plant oils is a great way to give your skin the nutrients it needs while also protecting it from environmental damage. Plant-based oils have been used for centuries to nourish and protect the skin, making them ideal ingredients in facial moisturisers.

How Plant Oils Hydrate Skin

It is important to understand that oil-based hydration does not necessarily mean clogging pores. Non-comedogenic oils, such as argan oil, can be used on oily or acne prone skin without fear of causing breakouts. These types of oils are also rich in linoleic acid and oleic acids which help to create a protective barrier over the skin while promoting hydration and healthy cell turnover. Jojoba oil is another popular choice when it comes to hydrating the skin as it closely mimics our own natural sebum composition and helps balance excess sebum production. Despite being an oil, jojoba has lightweight properties that make it easily absorbed into the skin for instant results.

Other beneficial ingredients found in plant oils include Vitamin E, which helps to protect skin from environmental pollution and sun damage, and antioxidants that fight against free radicals. Plant oils can also be used in combination with other hydrating ingredients for an added boost of moisture. By combining water-based hyaluronic acid with our commonly used plant oils, the skin is able to get hydrated on multiple levels while locking in the moisture and protecting against dryness.

Overall, plant oils are a great way to help keep your skin nourished and hydrated, while also providing additional benefits like fighting free radicals and reducing inflammation. Just make sure you choose non-comedogenic formulas like ours, designed specifically for your skin type so you can reap the many benefits of plant oils without worrying about clogging pores or causing breakouts. With the right combination of ingredients and a healthy skin care routine, you can keep your complexion hydrated, healthy, and glowing all year round.
