Why It Is Hard to Find a Good Natural Sun Cream But Worth It
At Nakin we often get asked if we have a sunscreen in our range, or if we can recommend a good natural one. We have to answer no to both of these questions, and this is in part because it is so hard to formulate a good natural sunscreen. It is something that we have looked into, but we prefer instead to focus on producing high quality natural anti-ageing skincare.
A good high factor broad spectrum high rated sunscreen is very anti-ageing to skin, as it protects the skin from the damaging effects of the sun’s rays. But it is very different to a good anti-ageing face product which is designed to nourish, hydrate and rejuvenate. At Nakin we do not believe in adding sunscreen to face moisturisers as they are different products, and in order to help and protect skin as best possible it is much better to use them separately.
At Nakin our face creams are for both day and night use as they do not contain SPF, which is usually not enough protection when in a face cream, plus our products are filled with actives and extracts that benefit skin in both the day and night. So, we always suggest applying a separate sun cream to skin when going outside. The problem is that the synthetic ones are filled with lots of undesirable ingredients, and the natural ones are not that great to use. This is because they tend to be hard to apply, and leave a white residue on the face. We still much prefer and recommend them to synthetic options, as we believe they are so much kinder to our skin and entire body.
Sunscreen is a crucial part of our daily routine, especially during the summer months. The market is flooded with a variety of suncream, but finding a good natural sunscreen that fits our needs and does not harm our skin is a hard task. In this blog, we will dive deep into why it is so hard to find a good natural sun cream and what ingredients to watch out for when purchasing SPF products.
At Nakin we 100% believe that it is worth using a natural sunscreen even if it is not the most enjoyable high performance feeling product. This is because it contains mineral sunscreen instead of synthetic ones like oxybenzone, avobenzone, and octinoxate, which have been linked with coral reef bleaching, hormone disruptions, and even a cancer risk. Therefore, it is essential to read labels and scrutinise the ingredients before buying a suncream.
Natural sun creams usually have a bigger price tag, but we believe that it is well worth the cost. The high cost comes from the premium quality natural filters they use, including zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which are safe and eco-friendly.
Finding a good natural suncream is important for protecting our skin from harmful UV rays without any side effects. They might not feel the same on our skin, but we feel they are safer to use and keep our skin healthy and looking good throughout the years.
