Why Does My Skin Feel Dry After Applying Moisturiser?
At Nakin a common query that we hear from some customers is that their skin feels dry after applying a moisturiser, and there are so many things that can contribute to this.
Firstly, some of us do have exceptionally dry skin that still feels a certain amount of dryness, no matter what we have applied to it. A common reason for exceptionally dry skin is actually using a cleanser that is too harsh for our face, and so strips away too much of the natural moisture. This is why we only use gentle cleansers in our natural anti-ageing face products collection. Another common reason is actually using natural skincare products, especially if we have been using synthetic ones beforehand. Unfortunately, many skincare ranges, including some of the alleged natural ones use lots of synthetic moisturising ingredients like silicones in their products. These give that luxurious cocooning layer film that we will have probably noticed at some point or another in our skincare journey.
At Nakin we use natural ingredients wherever possible, and these give an amazing amount of natural plant hydrators. Our products are free of silicones, PEGs and glycols plus synthetic moisturising agents, so do feel different to most skincare ranges that contain lots of these, and leave a layer on the skin. Our oil and serum are exceptionally healing for dry skin, and the cleansing milk is one of the gentlest ways to cleanse dry skin.
If you do have really dry skin that still feels dehydrated after using a good face cream like ours then we recommend using a serum, oil of both underneath. The Performance Face Serum and Revitalising Face Oil are perfect for using underneath a face cream on your face and neck, which gives skin lots of excellent hydration, nourishment and rejuvenation. Our face serum and face oil are both treatment products, and you can use them together, or just one of them. They have different benefits, but do share some properties, as they are both anti-ageing and reviving for the face. The serum has powerful actives for skin rejuvenation hydrating deeply with hyaluronic acid and easing lines with the plant peptide, hyaluronic acid, seaweed, and green tea. The oil would be used after the serum if using both together and is rich and nutritious without being greasy. It helps to heal the skin barrier and immediately calms skin and leaves a lovely glow, plus is great at helping with stressed skin issues like dryness or sensitivity.
Experiencing dry skin after applying moisturiser can be perplexing, particularly when the product is designed to hydrate. Several factors may contribute to this sensation. Firstly, the choice of moisturiser itself is vital; formulations containing lots of synthetic ingredients can stop maintaining the skin’s natural moisture levels, and instead provide a silky luxurious feel. rather than locking it in. Additionally, the skin's barrier function may be compromised due to environmental stressors such as harsh weather, air conditioning, or using hot water during showers, leading to a feeling of dryness despite moisturiser application.
If your skin feels dry after using a moisturiser then the best thing is to pay attention to it, using good natural skincare like our Nakin range will help to hydrate and heal, plus layer treatments underneath if needed. Stay away from harsh cleansers, and protect skin from the cold and hot water. Keeping hydrated by drinking enough water will also help.
