What Is My Face Shape?

At Nakin we like to think we know a thing or two about the face. We dedicate our work to producing amazing skincare that is full of natural anti-ageing actives. But something we were never quite sure of is how to classify different face shapes. We kind of had an idea but were never sure if faces were round, square, oval, long, diamond or heart shaped. So, when we finally figured it out, we wanted to share the details with our lovely customers. Knowing your face shape helps with all sorts of things, like make-up application and choosing a hair style that suits you. It means that we are able to pick the most flattering looks that enhance our appearance. Read on and follow the steps below to discover your face shape.
- Begin by getting a camera, a piece of A4 white paper and a pen. Plus have a printer to hand.
- Tie your hair back and take a selfie photo of yourself, with the camera positioned straight onwards.
- Print the image out on a printer.
- Next use the pen to draw dots around the edge of the face, from the forehead, down the hair line and past the ears, along the jaw and chin and then back upwards. Then fill in the dots, so there is a line going around the whole of the face.
- This will then give you the outline of your face shape. Use the description below for the advice and detail to work out your exact actual shape.
Oval Face Shape
Your face will be longer than it is wide, and your jawline is curved and slightly narrower than your forehead.
Heart Face Shape
Your forehead is wider than your jawline. Your chin is pointed, and you may have a widow’s peak.
Diamond Face Shape
A diamond face shape is similar to a heart shape, but it has a tapered hair line, so it goes in at the forehead area towards the top of the head.
Square Face Shape
The face is as long as it is wide. So, if on your photo you draw a line from the ear to ear, and another line from the top of the head to the chin, they are almost the same in length. The forehead and jaw line will also be roughly the same length, and the chin will not be in a point and is instead flatter.
Round Face Shape
A round face is similar to a square face shape, so it can be hard to tell them apart. The difference is that the jaw line is rounded, instead of the flatter jawline of a square face shape.
