Toner vs Exfoliator

Toner vs Exfoliator

If you are torn between using a toner or exfoliator for your face and neck, then it will help to understand the differences between the two. For maximum anti-ageing results then use both, or pick either a toner or exfoliator based upon your skincare requirements.

At Nakin we have both a toner and exfoliator in our cleanser selection of our natural anti-ageing face products. You could use both the Purifying Face Toner and Exfoliating Radiance Tonic, as they are both for all skin types and great for dry, oily, combination, normal and sensitive skin. They are both cleansers but have different benefits for skin, the Purifying Face Toner is a lovely second cleanse, and the Exfoliating Radiance Toner is an amazing plant AHA exfoliator.

You could follow your main cleanser with our Purifying Face Toner as a double cleanse, detoxifier and toning treatment. Then for your evening routine, or as required, use our Exfoliating Radiance Tonic, which is a powerful renewal treatment with fruit AHAs. It is great for pores, blackheads, an uneven skin tone, plus lines and wrinkles.

When Should I Use a Toner, and When Should I Use an Exfoliator in My Skincare Routine?

A toner and an exfoliator serve different purposes in your skincare routine, and knowing when to use each can make a significant difference to your skin's health. Toners are typically used after cleansing to remove any residual impurities, balance your skin's hydration levels, and prepare it to absorb serums and moisturisers more effectively. You can use a toner daily, either in the morning or evening, depending on your routine.

Exfoliators, on the other hand, are designed to remove dead skin cells and promote cellular turnover, leaving your skin smoother and more radiant. Exfoliation should generally be limited to certain times per week, depending on your skin type, and the strength plus naturalness of the product. Over-exfoliating can cause irritation, so it’s important to follow the product instructions and observe how your skin reacts. For an effective skincare regime, use toner as part of your daily routine and exfoliator intermittently or up to nightly for deeper cleansing and rejuvenation.

Toners and chemical exfoliators like ours are liquid skincare products that are applied after cleansing and before moisturising. They help to remove any remaining impurities and balance our skin, leaving it feeling refreshed and prepped for the next steps in your routine. Toners can also have added benefits such as hydrating, brightening, or exfoliating properties. Exfoliators are special treatments to remove dead skin cells and deeply treat the skin.

When choosing a toner and exfoliator, consider your skin type and any specific concerns you may have. Look for toners like ours that are alcohol-free and contain beneficial ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and antioxidants.

To apply our toner and exfoliator, use a cotton pad or your fingertips to gently swipe the product over your face and neck. You can also try the "patting" method, where you pour a small amount into your hands and lightly pat it onto your skin.
