Should I Use a Cleanser & Toner Together?

Should I Use a Cleanser & Toner Together?

Face cleansers and toners are quite separate products in a face routine, and we usually recommend using both of them together. This is because a cleanser will dislodge and remove most things like daily grime, make-up and SPF, but might not always clear away the smaller impurities that we have. A good toner will clear these away and at the same time give skin an excellent freshen up and tone. Every cleanser and toner is different but this is what we find with our Nakin Advanced Cleansing Milk and Purifying Face Toner.

It is not essential to use a toner after cleansing, but it is something we recommend. This is because our skin can get really grimy and carry dirt and impurities that we cannot see with the naked eye. This comes from the products that we might apply such as make-up and SPF, but also from everyday life and pollutants in the atmosphere. These can cause dullness on the skin, an uneven skin tone and inflammation. Rarely will a first step cleanser such as a face wash or cleansing milk remove everything., A toner like our Purifying Face Toner with its liquid formulation and small molecule size that is wiped over the skin is able to clear away the deeper and less obvious grime that appears on our face and neck. It also has great anti-ageing benefits.

If you are not using a toner then we recommend taking extra care to ensure the first step cleansing product is thoroughly removed with a damp cloth, cotton wool or when in the shower, depending on your preference and type of first step cleanser being used.

If you really want to go all out and achieve an extremely clean complexion then exfoliating with a products like our Nakin Exfoliating Radiance Tonic is an excellent way to cleanse and renew the complexion.

Using a facial toner after cleansing completes the purifying process by removing any remaining traces of dirt, grime and cleanser. It also helps to restore the skin's balance, which can be disrupted during the cleansing process. Additionally, toners can shrink the appearance of pores, prepare the skin to absorb moisturisers and serums more effectively, and provide a refreshing boost to the skin, making it feel clean and revitalised.

Toners can also provide additional benefits, depending on the type of toner used. This may include hydrating or soothing ingredients, making them suitable for those with dry or sensitive skin.

Moreover, using a face toner regularly can improve the overall appearance and texture of the skin and can aid in controlling excess oil production and improving overall skin clarity.

Overall, incorporating a facial toner into your skincare routine can have numerous benefits for your skin's health and appearance. It is a simple and effective step that can help to enhance the results of your other skincare products and leave you with a glowing, healthy complexion. So next time you cleanse your face, don't forget to reach for a toner afterwards.
