Do I Need a Separate Eye Make-Up Remover?

There are so many different types of facial cleansing products on the market, that it makes it hard to know what to use and when. One of the products that causes some confusion is an eye make-up remover, plus knowing if one is needed. At Nakin we try to keep things simple and believe less is more when it comes to skincare products, and so we suggest using your normal cleanser as an eye make-up remover, even if it does involve cleansing twice with the same product, which will of course depend on how much make-up you are wearing, and the actual make-up product that you are using. It will also depend on the product formulated to remove eye make-up, as many cleansers will be much too strong for this delicate part of the face.
At Nakin, we do not have a separate eye make-up remover in our collection, but we do have our Advanced Cleansing Milk, which is an oil-based cleanser that can be used for eye make-up. There is also our Rejuvenating Face Wash. They are able to remove eye make-up, but the kind natural formulas can mean that they may struggle with some strong eye products, such as waterproof mascaras. As with all make-up removers, take care not to get them in the actual eye.
Our cleansers can all be found with the rest of our range here.
One factor that will contribute to good eye make-up removal is how you use your cleanser. Always follow the instructions on the packet as they vary from product to product. When applying your eye make-up remover take some time to massage the product in, as this will dislodge things like daily grime, SPF, and make-up, making it much easier to cleanse the rest of your face.
When it comes to removing eye makeup, a separate eye makeup remover isn't always necessary. Many cleansers are formulated to effectively dissolve stubborn makeup, including mascaras and eyeliners, without the need for an additional product, but they can be too much for skin.
When choosing an eye makeup remover or cleanser for your skincare routine, it's important to consider your specific needs. If you wear heavy or waterproof eye makeup, then double cleansings or using a dedicated eye makeup remover may be necessary for thorough cleansing. However, if you prefer a simple routine and tend to wear lighter makeup, a gentle cleanser may be sufficient. It's also important to pay attention to the ingredients in your chosen product – look for gentle formulas that are free from harsh chemicals or synthetic fragrances that can irritate the sensitive eye area.
In addition to using the right products, there are some important tips and techniques for effectively removing eye makeup. First, always start with clean hands to prevent transferring any dirt or bacteria onto your delicate eye area. Next, be gentle – avoid scrubbing or pulling on the skin around your eyes as it is much thinner and more delicate than the rest of your face. Instead, use a gentle sweeping motion with a cotton pad or cloth soaked in your chosen makeup remover or cleanser.
