Current Cosmetic Procedures

There has been a boom of interest in cosmetic procedures in the last few years, mostly down to us spending more time communicating online and therefore getting more glimpses of ourselves. Before we start investigating cosmetic procedures though, we should remember that looking at ourself on a video call will always show us in a different way to how we see ourselves in a mirror, and there are many reasons for this. At Nakin we prefer natural options to improving the way we look, such as by using our anti-ageing face products which help to rejuvenate skin with the power of plants.

Many people notice that they look worse on video calls than when looking in a mirror, and there are several factors contributing to this perception. Firstly, lighting plays a crucial role; most indoor lighting sources are not optimally positioned for video calls, creating shadows and highlights that can alter our appearance unfavourably. Secondly, the camera angle matters; webcams are often placed below eye level, which results in unflattering perspectives. Moreover, the quality of the camera itself can impact how we look, as lower resolution cameras often fail to capture our features accurately. Lastly, mirrors offer a familiar and more controlled reflection, while video calls present a reversed image that can be jarring and unfamiliar to us. These combined factors explain why video call appearances often fall short compared to mirror reflections.

At Nakin we only believe in improving our face and neck with natural methods like our natural anti-ageing skincare. However, we were curious to find out what common modern treatments are now available, so we researched this as below. All the treatments discussed do not involve any form of surgery, and so are considered more non-invasive cosmetic procedures. The cosmetic procedure world has exploded in the last few years, and so this is just a few of the options available.

Botox

Botox is as popular as ever and has evolved to be more subtle, known as baby Botox. More subtle Botox means that it does not give a severely smooth look and instead it is has a more natural effect. It is also affordable and only takes about 10-15 minutes, with results lasting a few months.

Under Eye Fillers

This treatment involves small filler injections underneath the eye. It focuses on an area called the sunken teardrop. This area has become more prevalent and noticeable as we are often looking at ourselves on a screen in our house, plus at strange angles and with bad lighting. The fillers are then injected which makes the skin in this sunken area fuller, and the light is able to reflect off the skin. This gives the look and illusion of more rested eyes. It costs around £500, takes 30 minutes and lasts for about a year.

Morpheus 8

Morpheus 8 is a micro needling treatment that uses radio frequencies to tone, lift and contour the face and body. It works by reaching deep into the skin and fat layers, where it can remodel skin. It is used all over the face and is particularly helpful to improve a saggy neck. We are often looking at our phones and computer screens and these unnatural positions can cause sagging as skin loses its elasticity. It costs around £1,500, takes about 30 minutes, and can last for a couple of years.

Profile Fillers

This next one is really interesting as it has the effect of plastic surgery, but without the actual surgery. It is used to improve any profile niggles like bumps in the nose. It takes about half an hour and the results last for about a year.

Hand Filler Treatments

This next one is a hand refiner. Hands really show signs of ageing, as they do so much for us and are often exposed to the sun. This is why having fillers in the back of the hand is becoming more popular, as it plumps up the hands and stimulates collagen. It takes about 30 minutes per hand and costs around £500 for each.

At Nakin we believe in looking as good as we can without the use of cosmetic procedures, which is why we developed our amazing anti-ageing skincare that is incredible for achieving healthy, smooth glowing skin. Nakin’s range offers the best skincare products and everything in the range is a cruelty free beauty product. It is easy to look in the mirror and not be happy with what we see, and this can happen at any age. But try not to be too critical and instead embrace any areas that you are not keen on. If you are thinking of having a procedure, then do not rush into anything and consider it over many months as your feelings may change.

If you do use cosmetic procedures, then take care to ensure that it is with a reputable qualified professional. Also take lots of care to be educated on any side-effects and problems with the procedures. Having all the right knowledge and using a good practitioner will minimise the risk of complications.
