HOW TO CHOOSE AN ANTI-AGEING CREAM

For the most effective anti-ageing skincare, it’s about using the right cleansers, moisturisers and treatments. Cleansing, moisturising and treating skin with the right anti-ageing products is very important. The essentials in every skincare regime are cleanser, toner, moisturiser, eye cream, serum, face oil and lip balm. Choosing the right anti-ageing cream for you all depends on your skin type, and any specific skin concerns that you may have. So firstly make sure that the product is right for your skin type, be it sensitive, oily, combination, normal or dry.

Every face cream should always work on three essential benefits; providing moisture, nutrients and protection. But an Anti-Ageing Cream will target a multitude of other skin issues; especially hydration, lines, wrinkles, dullness and uneven skin tone. This is by using ingredients that are actually scientifically proven to work. These active ingredients and ones like Hyaluronic Acid and botanical plant extracts. They are specially developed to capture the intense and potency of natural plant ingredients.

There are also lots of chemical anti-ageing ingredients, the most famous and effective being Retinol, a form of Vitamin A.  However, it is thought to be a hazardous ingredient. The Environmental Working Group Skin Deep Cosmetic Database actually rate Retinol as a 9 out of 10, and a high hazard ingredient that is based on a fair amount of scientific data, as opposed to its assessment of natural Hyaluronic Acid as a 1 out of 10 non-hazardous ingredient. At Nakin we also always recommend using natural skincare products, so as not to put harsh or toxic ingredients into your system. An ingredient like Retinol may be proven to be efficient at getting rid of wrinkles, but it’s not worth it if it has a detrimental effect in another way. The best skincare will always be natural, as well as environmentally friendly, cruelty free and vegan where this is possible. At Nakin we always ensure our anti-ageing skincare adheres to these standards. The great thing about using natural products is that they are suitable for use at any age, meaning that our products also play a huge role in resisting the look of ageing on skin.

HOW TO USE ANTI-AGEING FACE SERUMS AND OILS

Anti-ageing Face Serums and face oils are a fairly new, but highly regarded part of anti-ageing skincare. Face serums are an essential part of an anti-ageing skincare routine, as their small molecules make them easily absorbed into skin. The best natural face serums contain highly effective anti-ageing ingredients, so the serums allow these potent ingredients to get deep down into skin and work at a deeper level. This is similar for face oils, because oils are lipophilic so they help to keep moisture in the skin, which is always a good thing for anti-ageing. Face oils also easily soak into skin, so are another way to get nutrients and goodness to the deeper levels of skin. They are highly conditioning and we love face oils. An Anti-Ageing Face Oil like ours are 100% natural and made with the finest plant oils available, so it’s complete natural goodness for skin. Always apply serum before a face oil. Apply serum to freshly cleansed skin to help repair and vitalise, and follow with a face oil for nourishment and conditioning.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR ANTI-AGEING CREAM

Getting the most out of an anti-ageing cream is easy. The best thing to do is always apply to freshly cleansed skin. Use a natural cleansing milk like our Nakin Anti-Ageing Cleansing Milk, and once a week exfoliate with the cleansing milk and a damp luke warm muslin cloth, to remove dead skin cells and allow the anti-ageing treatments to reach the deepest part of skin possible. Follow the cleansing milk with a detoxing face toner, like our Anti-Ageing Face Toner. This will ensure that skin is beautifully clean, and receptive to the anti-ageing creams used afterwards. Follow cleansing with a Anti-Ageing Eye Cream and natural face serum, then a small amount of face oil. The final steps are to moisturise the face, and use an Anti-Ageing Lip Balm.

Our other tip is not to use too much of each product, as if it is a good product then only a small amount will be needed. It also means that skin will not be too have too many layers on it, and be heavily laid down with the layers of fluids. Follow this skincare regime morning and evening for best results.

One way to really get good value from your anti-ageing creams and assist their application and ability to infuse skin, is by using instruments such as face massagers. It’s nice to use a face massager when applying a face oil, as it glides over skin beautifully. Massage will relax and stimulate skin, so it is left plump and revitalised.

However good a cream, lifestyle plays a huge part in having lovely youthful looking skin. The good thing is that we understand so much about nutrition and keeping our bodies healthy. Good anti-ageing creams are just one part of having gorgeous glowing skin. This comes from a range of beneficial lifestyle choices; such as reducing alcohol consumption; not smoking, reducing sugar intake, eating healthily, taking appropriate care in the sun, keeping fit and active, and drinking lots of water for hydration and detoxification.
