One of the popular beauty products over the last few years is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. We hear lots about it in the press, and also from customers looking for a more natural alternative to using this. So, read on to see Nakin’s alternative option that offers a better experience for your skin at a much more affordable price.
At Nakin we believe our Natural Anti-Ageing Dew Cream more than rivals the magic cream with its sumptuous natural formula of skin loving extracts. The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream is a face moisturiser decanted in an uber glossy pot, with a large octagonal tub and gold lid. We are not sure how eco-friendly this is but will focus more on the content inside. It is £75 for 50ml, and they describe it as an instant turnaround moisturiser that cushions skin in moisture for a hydrated, plumper looking complexion. At Nakin our face creams are £20 for 50ml, and we promise superbly nourished glowing skin and long-lasting hydration.
The Magic Cream has lots of good reviews but like us some customers wonder why they are spending £75 for a face cream that is fairly basic, and also includes lots of synthetics in the formula.
They both have a rich consistency that is easy to apply and leaves skin fresh and dewy. They also both have hyaluronic acid which most good face creams have nowadays, but the rest of the formula has mostly standard ingredients. This includes some basic common moisturising ingredients that are in fact excellent but do not warrant such a high price tag, such as oat, shea and sunflower oil.
It does contain some peptide ingredients, but it is unclear what their purpose is. Peptides in skincare are usually used to penetrate the deeper layers of your skin and stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen plus improve the appearance of wrinkles. However, there isn’t much data on the ones in this cream so it is hard to research them. In the Nakin cream it contains well known plant ingredients as alternatives to synthetic peptides. These are well known for their youth preserving properties such as cassia. It also contains a gorgeous blend of some of the best facial plant oils available for skin preservation such as argan, baobab and jojoba.
One of the things that is odd about the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream is that it has a lot of chemical sunscreen filters in the ingredients list. This is something you might expect in a moisturiser, however, it is only SPF 15 so you would still need to apply a sunscreen anyway. It just seems to result in putting chemical sunscreen filters on skin without an adequate reason.
One of the main reasons that customers are looking for an alternative to the magic cream is due to the amount of natural content in Nakin’s Anti-Ageing Skincare. When looking at the magic cream the ingredients list it is full of synthetics, whereas at Nakin we try to keep our products as pure and natural as possible.
If you love the magic cream, then we are not suggesting that you stop using it. This would only be if you are looking for a more natural affordable alternative. Often creams do command a high price tag and occasionally it is part justified. But the price of the magic cream does seem extortionate for what you get. So, if you are looking for the best face cream then our Active Dew Cream is lovely. It is for normal, combination, dry and sensitive skin types. For oilier skin then our Matt Cream is more suited, it contains the same actives but has a more matt finish.
